Graduation Sneaks

25 07 2008

Inspired by the artwork for Kanye West’s Graduation album released in 2007. The images and color schemes are from the original artwork of Takeshi Murakami, and Kanye’s “shutter shade” sunglasses from the Stronger music video. I think these sneaks are the hottest shit to hit the streets since Funk Master Flex.

You can check out more of Takeshi Murakami’s artwork here

So unfresh…

“Those Fucking Glasses”

While surfing about my Facebook homepage and the ever expanding Internet, I have seen countless pictures of girls in between the ages of 14 and 19 wearing these plastic pieces of shit they call trendy new sunglasses. Now granted the picture shown here is a Louis Vuitton version of these sunglasses, and I know what your going to say, “but they are Louis Vuitton! And Pharell wears them!!” but those who say that can respectively go to hell. For a while I was looking on google for the name of these sunglasses because I needed a picture of them to show you all how much I hated them, when I got tired of looking through websites of new sunglasses, I entered “those fucking glasses” in the google search bar, and I was surprised at how unsurprised I actually was to find a picture of these sunglasses.

From Akon to Jay-Z , I have seen them all wearing these goddamn sunglasses, and while I respect and listen to both of their work, I hate what they are putting on their face. They are almost aviators with a little plastic bar running along the top of them, possibly to make your forehead seem smaller or maybe to make you look like more of a dumbass than you already are for buying them. I suspect that people do not intentionally attempt the latter.

The price range starts at $12.99 and so on. So for all of you that wear these glasses, there is a 90% chance that you are poorly educated, or a rapper who may actually be talented but chooses to look like he spits flows similar to Soulja Boi, and I’m sorry for you.

peace,

FRESH MUSIC–New Murs & 9th Wonder

Murs & 9th Wonder’s Sweet Lord

I can’t remember which one of my buddies from school said it, but aparently some people can’t listen to much of 9th Wonder.  Those sweet beats which are at once intoxicating can get stale and fade out, sounding all too much familiar like his previous music.  I am, however, not one of those people.  I can listen to 9th wonder beats all day long.  Since I copped the new album from Murs and 9th, Sweet Lord, today has been one of those days.

The Murs and 9th legacy has been a good one.  The new album, released “fo free” online just this past wednesday, is the third Murs record produced by 9th wonder.  The first two, 3:16 and Murray’s Revenge are personal favorites in my collection, and both have recieved excellent reviews in the underground hip-hop community.  Songs like “Walk Like a Man,” “Love and Appreciate” and “The Pain” are bangers from those albums that still get play on my iPod, years after they came and went.  So you can imagine my excitement when I got my hands on Sweet Lord.

The album is short, only 10 tracks, but they are all hard hittin’ and will leave you satisfied.  I don’t want to give too much away either.  I always loved Murs’ story-telling style that is a lot like Nas’ but unique nonetheless.  His raps on Sweet Lord cover the usual things for Murs.  Girls, Hip-Hop, and being broke.  It would seem that for an artist that has come so far, not too much has changed.  9th brings some strong beats on this album, using a kick drum the way it should be used and cutting up samples with his Akai like always.  I’m for sure gonna be ridin’ to this for the next few days.
